Taking to Instagram, Ryan Reynolds has seemingly teased plans for a new Deadpool movie coming as part of the MCU's Phase 5.

Last weekend was incredibly exciting for Marvel fans. As is usually the case with San Diego Comic-Con, tons of internet-breaking movie-related announcements were made, with Kevin Feige and co. finally pulling back the curtain on what we can expect from Phase 4. Between 2020 and 2021, we’ll be getting five full-length feature movies, and five TV shows set to debut on Disney Plus.

Suffice it to say, there’s a lot to look forward to, but one character notable by their absence during Marvel Studios’ panel was Deadpool, which was a bit surprising. For some reason, Feige made no mention of when we’ll next see the Merc with a Mouth and though we’re pretty sure that Marvel has plans for him, they’re choosing to keep things under wraps for the time being.

That hasn’t stopped Wade Wilson himself, Ryan Reynolds, from offering up a quick tease, though. Clearly aware of the internet’s confusion as to why the studio hasn’t spilled the beans on the Merc’s future yet, the actor took to Instagram to post a photo showing off the latest progress on his faux investigation into who leaked that Deadpool footage all those years ago. But what’s really caught people’s eye is the caption, where he mentions “Phase 5.”

While this might not be an official confirmation, the fact that Reynolds makes a point to call it “Phase 5” clearly indicates that he’s hinting at Deadpool’s future in the MCU. Not to mention that Phase 5 is when we all assume we’ll see the Merc next, given that he wasn’t on the Phase 4 slate.

After all, both Disney Chief Bob Iger and Feige himself have said they’d entertain the idea of doing more R-rated Deadpool movies and again, the studio’s confirmed that one way or another, the antihero will return to our screens. Of course, there’ve been rumors that a Disney Plus show may be the route they head in rather than another solo film, but again, fans can rest easy knowing Deadpool hasn’t been sidelined after the Disney-Fox merger. And if Reynolds’ cheeky tease up above is anything to go by, we may just be seeing Wade Wilson again come Phase 5.
