There’s been a lot of talk lately of various Star Wars spinoff shows that Lucasfilm might be considering for Disney Plus. But while the market for solo outings is already looking very crowded, most fans probably wouldn’t object to Disney giving the green light to a Mace Windu series, and as it turns out, Samuel L. Jackson is still game to return.
The subject came up in an interview with ComicBook.com, which saw the actor discussing the upcoming Captain Marvel. Now that Jackson has been de-aged to assume the role of a young Nick Fury, the star was asked if he’d be open to depicting Mace Windu’s early years through a similar transformation. In his response, Jackson made it clear that he’s down with the idea:
“Well, we’ve got Lola [VFX], they’ve got Lola, it’s theirs, let’s see what happens. I’m down with it. I’ve still got my purple lightsaber, I’m ready.”
This is hardly the most surprising news, with the actor going on record time and time again expressing his interest in coming back to the Star Wars saga. Still, it’s nice to know that Jackson’s interest in a Mace Windu comeback hasn’t yet waned, even if Lucasfilm has offered no indication that they feel the same.
So far, the only two Star Wars shows known to be headed for Disney Plus are The Mandalorian and a Rogue One: A Star Wars Story prequel series focusing on Cassian Andor. In both cases, the franchises will be venturing back in the timeline years before the events of the current Sequel Trilogy.
There’ve also been rumors lately that an Obi-Wan Kenobi spinoff series could be in the works, with Ewan McGregor reprising his role as the famed Jedi. Whether he or any other Prequel-era characters might make a comeback is still to be confirmed, but we can always hold out hope that Star Wars Celebration in April will bring a few announcements.
