Despite Paramount Plus subscribers in the U.K. understandably unsatisfied with Scream VI not being made available to stream on the platform just yet, other subscribers are eating up the content like hotcakes. At the same time, however, the opportunity has opened up for eagle-eyed horror fanatics to carefully dissect moments from the franchise’s sixth venture — which even includes exploring sensitive territory where a major character death likely should have happened.
Over on Twitter, one user shared a brief clip from the horror film, which showcased Chad Meeks-Martin (Mason Gooding) trying to defend Sam and Tara Carpenter from not one, but two Ghostface killers. In the process, Chad is captured and stabbed several times before slipping down to the floor in a bloody mess. And while a large portion of the fanbase is fond of Chad, another common belief insists that he probably should have died.
When revisiting this scene again, it almost feels incredibly silly that the creators behind the movie expected audiences to believe that Chad could survive being stabbed that many times. Furthermore, the concept of killing off Chad would have undoubtedly been a major boost for Tara’s character development and could have easily slotted out her revenge arc for the seventh film.
On the other hand, there’s no discounting Chad’s significance to the story and how beloved he is by fans. Perhaps making the decision to kill him off would have possibly backfired and dismayed Scream stans from heading to the theaters for Scream 7. Either way, sometimes a critical choice needs to be made.
Scream VI is available to stream now on Paramount Plus.
