The Avengers is easily one of the most anticipated films of the year. Comic-book geeks around the world are eagerly awaiting the release, while big studio execs are sweating bullets, hoping that all of this time and energy that has gone into the marketing of each character’s individual lead-up film pays off. The Avengers is one of Marvel’s biggest gambles and everyone is hoping it pays off.
So, we should be pretty happy with this news that Screen Rant has provided us. First and foremost, Marvel executives have seen the film and they’re liking it, a lot. While that’s good to hear, it could also just be a defense mechanism. No one with this much riding on them is going to call the film a letdown or anything short of perfect. That’s just bad promotion and something like The Avengers needs all of the positive word it can get.
Here’s the “inside scoop” on what the executives are saying:
Word ’round the campfire is Marvel considers The Avengers to be their best outing yet. I’ve talked to some cynics in the group who weren’t sure it was going to come together and they’re all doing their mea culpas now. They say it has the heart, the action, the humor and the suspense a movie like The Avengers should have. The only criticisms I’ve heard is that Whedon’s eye isn’t as cinematic as it should be, but that the rest of the movie is so good that you accept it.
I’m still holding back my expectations for this film, because everything I’ve seen so far looks sub-par at best. I’m sure it will be a good flick, but how good?
Moving on into new trailer news. It looks like a new trailer is scheduled to go online on February 29th and it will contain a few spoilers. They’re saying it will use both old and new action money shots, which isn’t a surprise. A more important note about the new trailer will be Hulk’s screen time. Apparently it will be less than the Super Bowl spot. I wonder why? Are they saving all of the reveals for the final product or are they still working on the finishing touches for the CGI? Only time will tell.
The Avengers will be hitting theaters on May 4th, 2012. It will be in 3D and it stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo and Samuel L. Jackson.
