Former Presidential candidate and rumored Zodiac Killer Ted Cruz recently stuck his ugly nose into the James Gunn controversy, claiming that the director needs to be prosecuted for the tasteless tweets that got him fired from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Early Saturday morning, he slid his gelatinous fingers over his smartphone and the following came out:
Wow. These #JamesGunn tweets are just horrible. Child rape is no laughing matter. As Texas SG, I handled far too many child sexual assaults. Truly evil. I’m glad Disney fired him, but if these tweets are true, he needs to be prosecuted.
This is typically verminous behavior from Cruz, and exposes him once again as a massive hypocrite on multiple levels. First and foremost, he was happy to endorse notorious jail-bait chaser Roy Moore in his bid for the Alabama senate seat back in 2017. In fact, when Fox News asked him plainly: “You cool working with alleged child molester Roy Moore if he’s elected?” Cruz replied: “Sure, no problem, that’s up to the voters.”
Then there’s the fact that Cruz likes to present himself as a crusader for free speech online, going so far as to plan a US Government takeover of key internet organization ICANN in the name of protecting freedom of expression. Now, he probably (definitely) had some ulterior motives for wanting this to happen, but if we’re to take him at his word, this is a man who apparently cares deeply about First Amendment rights online, and as a constitutional lawyer he knows damn well that that freedom extends to make seriously shitty jokes about child molestation. Remember, you don’t have to like what Gunn said, but the constitution gives him the right to say it.
It just goes to prove one of the cast iron laws of the universe: if Ted Cruz is arguing for something then you can be damn sure you should be on the other side of the fence, opposed to whatever he wants. And let’s face it, he still hasn’t adequately explained his whereabouts during the late 1960s and early 1970s slayings in Northern California. So there’s that, too.
As for James Gunn and his firing from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3, the situation is still developing, but as soon as we hear more, we’ll be sure to let you know.
