In preparation for the release of a fully-fledged commercial in tandem with Sunday’s Super Bowl event, and in keeping with Hollywood’s incessant trend of teasers for teasers, Disney has unveiled a brief clip for Brad Bird’s upcoming sci-fi adventure, Tomorrowland.
At a mere ten seconds in length, the footage doesn’t offer much to go on; still, it’s a tantalizing tease for Bird’s titular utopia, which is still shrouded in mystery for the most part. What we do know is that George Clooney will play the part of Frank, a jaded inventor who has amassed a peculiar amount of knowledge on Tomorrowland itself. So, when Britt Robertson’s Casey comes in possession of a strange pin, one which essentially acts as a conduit to another, wholly idyllic dimension, the two soon discover a shared interest in this alternate world.
Once known only as 1952, speculation has drawn comparisons with Tomorrowland and how it may relate to Walt Disney’s defining approach to futurism. Alas, we’ll have to wait until the final product arrives in May to know for sure. Also starring Thomas Robinson, House star Hugh Laurie as David Nix, Tim McGraw, Keegan-Michael Key and Judy Greer, Bird’s latest has quite the ensemble cast at its disposal.
Brad Bird will whisk us away into another world when Tomorrowland arrives in theaters on May 22. For now, tell us, are you excited to see the sci-fi flick on the big screen in a few months time? Let us know below.
