Fans have been waiting for news on Robert Rodriguez‘ Sin City 2 for quite some time. Rumors have spread that Sin City 2 would be based on A Dame to Kill For, written by the comic book legend, Frank Miller – and it looks like they were more than just rumors.
Frank Miller has confirmed that this was indeed the case, but promised that there would also be a number of original short stories included in the film. The screenplay is being adapted from Miller’s original story by Oscar-winning screenwriter William Monahan, who has been recruited to give the sequel a little something extra.
Miller sat down with MTV recently to give a little inside information on the upcoming film:
“(Sin City 2) is primarily an adaptation of the book ‘A Dame to Kill For’. It also features the short story, ‘Just Another Saturday Night’ and two new stories. One involving Jessica Alba’s character, Nancy Callahan, that I came up with for the movie in order to tie things together and make it be more united with the first.”
Despite Clive Owen holding a starring role in Sin City, fans shouldn’t expect to see him reprise his role in the new film. According to the comic, his character Dwight has undergone a dramatic physical transformation. Fortunately, fans can be optimistic for the return of a slew of sexy, strong prostitutes from the original. Gail (Rosario Dawson) and Miho (Devon Aoki) might be among those returning for round two.
Production for Sin City 2 is scheduled to begin production sometime in spring 2012.
