A raft of beautiful, Western-themed posters for Solo: A Star Wars Story have emerged, blinking into the sunlight. And not a moment too soon.
Providing you weren’t offline the entire weekend, you’ve likely already seen the latest (and potentially greatest?) trailer for Ron Howard’s Star Wars spinoff, which is now little over six weeks away from its grand debut.
Truth be told, that enviable pre-summer release date looked to have been thrust into jeopardy once Lucasfilm fired erstwhile directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller over creative differences. It’s a credit to Ron Howard and his team, then, that Solo: A Star Wars Story is right on schedule, and this latest media dump draws attention to the film’s Western/heist elements, while the theatrical poster includes a subtle nod to the Millennium Falcon and, in particular, its unique windshield.
Elsewhere, we have one or two character posters dedicated to Alden Ehrenreich as the young nerf-herder, along with an all-inclusive poster that draws attention to Solo‘s rogues gallery: L3-37 (Phoebe Waller-Bridge), Val (Thandie Newton), Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover), Qi’ra (Emilia Clarke), Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo) and Tobias Beckett (Woody Harrelson), who is said to be the sleazy mentor to the young, impressionable and still wet-behind-his-ears Han.
Solo: A Star Wars Story graces theaters on May 25th. It’s the second Star Wars anthology pic to tumble off the Disney/Lucasfilm production line, what with Episode IX set to bring the curtain down on the current, mainline trilogy late next year. J.J. Abrams is in charge, and filming is due to commence in the United Kingdom this summer.
