At last, the wheels seem to be moving on the promotional campaign for Solo: A Star Wars Story. Yesterday brought us our first details on the plot in the form of a short synopsis and now, a possible first reaction to a screening of the movie has appeared online and thankfully, it’s very positive.
Apparently, a certain amount of footage from the pic was shown off at an event in Munich, Germany, leading Facebook user Holger Frick to praise what he had seen of the upcoming Star Wars prequel film. The fan had good things to say about the cast as a whole and went as far as to promise that it might capture the classic feel of the franchise that many thought was missing from The Last Jedi.
I just saw a Sneak Peak (EPK reel) of “SOLO – A Star Wars Story” and I must say I’m really really overwhelmed of how freaggin good it looks! (nothing about the story yet)
Alden Ehrenreich is amazing as Han Solo, and so is Donald Glover as Lando, Emilia Clarke and Woody Harrelson look awesome and it definitely had an “old” Star Wars Feel to it!!
Looks like this could be the `fan-service-movie` some of the older Star Wars fans wanted from Episode VIII
Can’t wait for an official trailer and it’s only 4 months (!!) to release! OMG!! (thanks Roland Fischer & Armin Schmidt for making this possible
Considering all the bad press that has come Solo‘s way up until now, it’s a good sign that this first reaction is a glowing one. Back when directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller were replaced by Ron Howard, many were predicting that the resulting movie would be a trainwreck. However, those that were more optimistic thought that Lucasfilm might have made the right call in changing the course of the production – even so late in the game. If this fan’s opinions are truly indicative of the final product, then things could turn out alright for Solo, after all.
It’s also a relief that Alden Ehrenreich is described as “amazing.” The actor’s casting initially suffered from a mixed reception as fans were skeptical that he could live up to the massive shadow of Harrison Ford. Later on, rumours then made matters worse by claiming that Ehrenreich had been sent to an acting coach to improve his performance, which one source described as overly comedic and reminiscent of Jim Carrey.
Obviously, what we have here today is only the opinion of one individual, but hopefully it’s indicative of how Solo: A Star Wars Story will be received by the general public when it blasts into theaters on May 25th.
