At last, the wheels seem to be moving on the promotional campaign for Solo: A Star Wars Story. The other week brought us our first details on the plot in the form of a short synopsis and now, we’re hearing that the first trailer for the film is finally – finally! – on its way. In fact, if a new report is to be believed, it could be here as soon as this Sunday, meaning we haven’t got long before we get to clock eyes on Alden Ehrenreich as the galaxy’s greatest smuggler.
Of course, the plan is for it to premiere during the Super Bowl which, if true, would at least shed some light on why the studio’s been holding back on showing us any footage. After all, the aforementioned sporting event is as good a place as any to finally pull back the lid on the pic and if Lucasfilm does indeed launch the first trailer this Sunday, it’ll make this year’s Super Bowl one to remember, as the game will also bring about new previews for Avengers: Infinity War, Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Cloverfield 3 and more.
Circling back to Solo, though, and from what we know so far, the spinoff orbits around a series of daring escapades “deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld. There, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.”
On paper, it certainly has all the makings of a rip-roaring adventure, but will Ron Howard and co. be able to pull through and deliver another thrilling Anthology movie? One that will satisfy viewers in the same way that Rogue One did? Well, that remains to be seen.
As you surely know, the film has gone through a very troubled production and the buzz surrounding it at the moment is far from positive. We don’t want to write it off just yet, but it’s certainly understandable why fans are worried and finding it hard to get excited for this one. Not to mention that many people still have a bitter taste left in their mouth from The Last Jedi.
Thankfully, though, we’ll soon have a much better idea of what to expect as that first Solo: A Star Wars Story trailer is set to blast onto the web this Sunday. Be sure to keep your eyes on We Got This Covered as we’ll have it for you the moment it’s available.
