Halloween is but a distant memory now that all the major studios have released their delicious horror treats for 2017 (see: Jigsaw, Leatherface, Cult of Chucky), but if you’re still looking for more scares, don’t worry, as Aviron Pictures has another trick up its sleeve in time for the New Year.
After grabbing distribution rights to the horror sequel, one which comes courtesy of director Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down), Aviron has today premiered a brand new photo from The Strangers: Prey At Night – which can be seen in the gallery down below along with the one from last month as well as a couple of posters. With no context given for the pic, we can only assume that Christina Hendricks is opening her door for what we presume are the titular killers.
Set to premiere a whopping 10 years after Bryan Bertino’s original cult hit debuted, this new effort will act as a soft reboot for the horror series, given that it’s made room for the aforementioned Hendricks, Bailee Madison, Lewis Pullman and Martin Henderson, who play a family on a road trip. Unfortunately, things don’t go so well for them, though, as three dangerous psychos – Emma Bellomy as Dollface, Lea Enslin as Pin-Up Girl and Damian Maffei as the Man in the Mask – decide to pay them a visit.
It’s been a very long time since The Strangers was in theaters, but considering Roberts’ impressive work on 47 Meters Down, we’re willing to give Prey at Night the benefit of the doubt. He directs from a script penned by Bertino and Ben Ketai, while the official logline reads as so:
A family’s road trip takes a dangerous turn when they arrive at a secluded mobile home park to stay with some relatives and find it mysteriously deserted. Under the cover of darkness, three masked psychopaths pay them a visit to test the family’s every limit as they struggle to survive.
“Let us prey.” Aviron Pictures will begin screening The Strangers: Prey at Night on March 9th, 2018.
