What would a Marvel movie be without a post-credits scene? Ever since Nick Fury turned up to talk about “the Avengers initiative” at the end of Iron Man, sticking around for that extra sequence (or, more often than not, two) has become an essential part of the viewing experience for fans. It looks like we should be prepared to stay alert at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming, as well, as the movie is set to have a must-see post-credits scene.
At this week’s Supanova Comic Con in Sydney, Australia, director Jon Watts appeared via Skype to give some info on Homecoming. As Twitter user @Tyler_Cull3n revealed (via ComicBook.com), Watts mentioned that the movie would have a post-credits sequence “worth sticking around for.”
Jon Watts confirms that Homecoming has after credit scenes that are definately "worth sticking around for" (Obviously). #Supanova.

Intriguingly, the Tweet refers to “after credit scenes” in plural. Does this mean that Watts let slip that Homecoming will feature more than one sequence at the end of the movie? It’s definitely possible, as it wouldn’t be unusual for the film to feature two. Just don’t expect another stream of five whole post-credits scenes like in Guardians of the Galaxy. Vol. 2.
So fans, start your theorizing: what could we be treated to once the credits roll? Going by Watts’ comments, we can safely assume that whatever we see won’t be some small, comedic scene and will actually have some impact on either the movie itself or future Spider-Man films. We know that there’s a trilogy planned, after all. Alternatively, the scene could lead in to the next MCU outing, Thor: Ragnarok, coming this November. Or, maybe it will tease Sony’s upcoming Venom, which was recently revealed to be set in the same universe?
The possibilities are endless, really, and we can’t wait to find out what Spider-Man: Homecoming‘s credits have in store for us when the film swings into theatres on July 7th.
