As the lead Spider-Person of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Miles Morales knows all about journeying between alternate realities, but the question remains of whether this particular wall-crawler might some day break out of the animated world entirely and become a member of one of the live-action universes that are currently on our screens.
The subject came up in We Got This Covered’s recent interview with Shameik Moore and Jake Johnson, and when Moore was asked if his character might show up in a live-action film opposite Tom Holland, the star had an alternative suggestion in mind:
“Oh, I don’t know about the time hop, but I sure hope Miles Morales meets Venom. That’s really where I want to end up. Live-action? Yeah, I think it just depends on when they do it.”
Since Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters is essentially a Spider-Verse without a Spider-Man, the addition of Miles Morales could actually be a legitimately worthwhile idea, allowing the likes of Venom and Kraven the Hunter to face off against a version of the web-slinger while avoiding all the messy continuity issues that would come with bringing the MCU’s Peter Parker into the saga.
Nonetheless, Moore also expressed an interest in seeing Miles in the Disney universe, though again, it wasn’t a collaboration with Tom Holland’s Peter that he had in mind:
“Miles should team up with … It might be dope to go ahead and get the Black Panther and Miles collaboration. I mean, it’s possible.”
Seeing how Moore’s movie is currently garnering some of the best reviews of any superhero film since Black Panther, there’d probably be plenty of demand to see this team-up, regardless of how manageable it would be.
In any case, despite his character’s demise earlier this year, Holland seems happy to continue his run as the one and only Spidey in the MCU, with Spider-Man: Far From Home out July 5th, 2019. As for Miles Morales, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is out this Friday, and it probably won’t be the last we see of this new web-slinger in theaters, either.
