According to Movie Hole, there is still a slight chance that Spider-Man may assemble with Marvel’s mightiest heroes for The Avengers 2. We already know that Andrew Garfield would be on board for it and it looks as if The Amazing Spider-Man producer Avi Arad would be open to it as well. Now only if we can get Sony to co-operate with Disney.
“Everything is possible,” Arad said in an interview with Crave. “If something like that happens, it’s great for Disney, it’s great for Sony.”
If anyone can make this work, it’s Arad. He is the chairman, CEO and founder of Marvel Studios, after all. Like I said above though, it all has to do with some legal issues that Sony and Disney may have to work out. You see, just because Spider-Man is a Marvel character, he can’t appear in The Avengers or any of its sequels as Disney doesn’t own the film rights to the character, Sony does.
Both studios must know that this is what fans want though and it wouldn’t surprise me if they are actively working on a way to make it happen.
Like Arad says, “everything is possible” so keep those fingers crossed!
