Clearly not content to sit back and let DC steal all of the spotlight this week, Marvel has now dropped a stylish new poster for Spider-Man: Homecoming. Seen below, it features our hero taking a bit of a breather as he lays back and jams out to some tunes. In the background is the New York skyline, complete with the Avengers tower.
It’s a more simple and relaxed, not to mention lighter, approach to a one-sheet when compared to what we usually get from the comic book movie genre, but it’s still quite effective, promising a fun-filled reboot that’ll be a far cry from the grim, dark superhero clashes we’ve been seeing over in the DCEU. Though that may be about to change soon, if recent promos for Wonder Woman and Justice League are any indication.
With Homecoming now only a few months away, hopefully this new poster signals the start of the marketing campaign. It’s been awfully quiet in terms of promotional material for the flick and with a project this big, you’d think that the studio would be blasting us with the usual marketing blitz already. As we head into the spring, it’ll likely pick up – especially once Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is out of the way. For now though, this poster will do just fine and we’ll be sure to let you know if anything else arises.
Currently undergoing reshoots in Atlanta – which purportedly involve Laura Harrier, Tom Holland and Zendaya – Spider-Man: Homecoming is on course for a July 7th release. It’s the second of three Marvel movies due to arrive in 2017, and will be bookended by Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (May 5th) and Taika Waititi’s spacefaring threequel, Thor: Ragnarok (November 3rd).
