James Gunn admitted that one of the reasons why the majority of his Guardians of the Galaxy collaborators are destined to join him in the DCU is that there are literally hundreds of roles that need to be cast, something that became much clearer yesterday when Chapter 1 – Gods & Monsters was unveiled in its entirety.
As fate would have it, a world-renowned actor has put their name forward for consideration, although we wouldn’t hold our collective breath for Tommy Wiseau to be given a plum gig in the franchise’s new era. He might be a cult hero as the deranged mastermind behind The Room, but he’s not exactly been loading up his filmography with top-tier work on other side of the camera.
That being said, plenty of spoons were being thrown in the comments and replies regardless, after the mysterious maverick offered a simple reply to Gunn and DC Comics’ official Twitter accounts.
Gunn is a known fan of the far-fetched and bizarre, so it wouldn’t be the most ridiculous thing in the world were he to be outed as a diehard fan of The Room. There are plenty of them, too, which is why a film widely regarded as one of the worst ever made also happens to be one of the most enduringly beloved.
Then again, the DCU is being rebooted in a “younger and fresher” vein, which presumably rules Wiseau out seeing as nobody knows when he was born, where he came from, or how he acquired his vast wealth, which only adds to the mystery.
