Co-directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord will fire up production on the Han Solo anthology movie in February 2017, according to Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy.

Word comes by way of BBC reporter Lizo Mzimba, who spoke to Kennedy at a recent premiere event for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. It was here that the chief executive confirmed that not only will Miller and Lord’s spinoff pic lens early next year as expected, but fans can also look forward to the first footage from Star Wars: Episode VIII hitting the interwebs “towards spring.” Looks like Daisy Ridley’s guesstimation wasn’t too far off after all.

Per Twitter:

So, there you have it; come February, Phil Lord and Chris Miller will be assembling an enviable roster of stars comprised of Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover as the young Lando Calrissian and finally, Alden Ehrenreich as the endearing smuggler and scoundrel. Arrival DP Bradford Young has been brought aboard as cinematographer with the overriding consensus being that Disney’s Han Solo origin story will be akin to an old-school Western, which ought to make a nice tonic after the gritty war movie that is Rogue One.

Currently, Lord and Miller’s Han Solo anthology movie is penciled in for May 25, 2018. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, meanwhile, is currently screening in theaters across the galaxy, and you can find out exactly what we thought of Gareth Edwards’ own anthology movie here.
