Right now, the internet is starved for Star Wars: Episode IX material. But while the first trailer and the official title could still be a few more weeks away, some recently shared crew merch has at least given us an indication of how the film’s logo might look.
Whereas the title for The Force Awakens was usually in yellow on the promotional material, and The Last Jedi reflected its darker tone with a red title, the predominant color for Episode IX seems to be a light blue or teal hue. Since the Resistance will presumably be coming back in a big way after suffering heavy losses in The Last Jedi, perhaps we can take this new color as a reflection of the Light Side’s resurgence. And if the red-heavy posters for Rian Johnson’s film are anything to go by, then there’s a chance that this light blue color will feature prominently in the film’s promotional imagery.
In any case, if this really is the color that Episode IX is going for, then we should receive confirmation at least as soon as next month’s Star Wars Celebration, at which point, fans will probably get a lot more than a logo to look at. On April 12th, for instance, director J.J. Abrams will be speaking at a panel focused on his next film, and there’s good reason to believe that this is when the first teaser will finally drop.
As for the title, there’s been some speculation that it will be revealed before the Celebration, so that Star Wars: Episode IX merchandise can be sold. Either way, it’s looking very likely that we’ll know what to call the movie within the next month, though we’ve still got most of the year ahead of us before the film hits theaters on December 20th, 2019.
