Last week, the hosts of Making Star Wars show Now, This Is Podcasting! claimed to have heard from inside sources that Star Wars: Episode IX’s plot will be driven in part by the wiped memories of C-3PO. And while the claim has yet to be officially confirmed, the same podcast has now alleged a few details on one of the locations where these memories will take our heroes.
According to the new report, C-3PO and his peers will be journeying to a snow planet, where they come across some dead battle droids. And if this wasn’t enough of a callback to the Prequel Trilogy, there’s also said to be a scene where 3PO’s head is placed on a droid, much like we saw in Attack of the Clones. Lastly, it’s believed that Keri Russell’s character Zorii will also be seen on the planet.
Of course, until some actual evidence emerges, this report should probably be taken with the usual grain of salt. But for what it’s worth, set photos that surfaced earlier this year at least support the claim that the film will feature a snowy environment.
In any case, with Star Wars Celebration kicking off next week, we can probably expect to see some actual footage from the upcoming trilogy-closer soon enough. In particular, there’s reason to believe that the first trailer for this year’s release will premiere at a panel attended by J.J. Abrams on April 12th, at which point, we may also learn the film’s official title. But regardless of what the coming weeks bring, we’ve still got most of the year to wait before Star Wars: Episode IX hits theaters on December 20th, 2019.
