While there’s not a lot that we know for sure yet about the upcoming Star Wars: Episode IX, one thing we’ve been reasonably confident about for a while now is that a trip to the jungle is on the schedule.

We’ve already observed various photos from the UK that suggest a planet with plenty of greenery, and now this new leak, courtesy of Star Wars News Net, is giving us a pretty good look at a specific location that our heroes might be visiting. As you’ll see below, this big stone structure has probably witnessed better days, with vines creeping around the columns.

Meanwhile, look further into the background and you’ll spot a statue that’s still under construction but is using the face of a woman as a placeholder. Star Wars News Net has offered Padme as a possible character that this big stone figure could be portraying – and these swampy ruins do perhaps bring Naboo to mind – but it will likely be a long time before we get any confirmation on that. And of course, it could well be no recognizable character at all, but simply another part of the scenery.

As for what this place could be used for in J.J. Abrams’ upcoming flick, one suggestion we’ve heard is that the Resistance might be using it as a secluded base. This slots in well with some of the reactions to another recent batch of pics from Pinewood, which have led certain fans to believe that we could be in for a jungle-based climax to rhyme with the Endor finale of Return of the Jedi.

Obviously such ideas remain speculation for now, but our questions will be answered when Star Wars: Episode IX comes out on December 20th, 2019.
