Greg Grunberg To Reprise As Resistance Pilot Snap Wexley For Star Wars: Episode IX

Ace Resistance pilot Snap Wexley has been confirmed as part of J.J. Abrams' ensemble cast for the untitled Star Wars: Episode IX.

For those disappointed that Temmin “Snap” Wexley was completely MIA during The Last Jedi, we have some good news: J.J. Abrams is bringing his good-luck charm back in time for Star Wars: Episode IX.

Discussing Film confirmed as much late last month, when it was revealed that Greg Grunberg’s ace Resistance pilot would be making his return for Episode IX. The actor has become something of a good omen for writer-director J.J. Abrams, given the two have previously collaborated on everything from Star Trek Beyond to Mission: Impossible III – ditto for Star Wars newcomer Keri Russell, who’s rumored to be playing the part of Rey’s mysterious mother in the 2019 threequel.

Exact details of his return haven’t yet been disclosed, but fans can at least rest assured that Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) will be able to call upon the help of a trusty ally during Star Wars: Episode IX. Because when the going gets tough, the tough get going, as the old saying goes.

As for why Snap Wexley remained on the sidelines during Star Wars: The Last Jedi, his absence was later explained during the Resurrection DLC for Battlefront II, in which General Leia Organa orders Snap and his Black Squadron to the Outer Rim, where they must carry out a top-secret mission for the Resistance.

That ensured he was out of harm’s way during the climactic battle of The Last Jedi, though the same can’t be said for the great Luke Skywalker.

Whatever the case, both Greg Grunberg and Keri Russell will now be joined by Dominic Monaghan (The Lord of the Rings) and Matt Smith of Doctor Who when Star Wars: Episode IX crashes into theaters on December 20th, 2019.
