It’s almost surreal to type the line, but we’re little over two months out from the launch of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Yes, Disney’s retooled and rebooted galaxy far, far away is suddenly really rather close, and it won’t be long before ardent fans secure their tickets to see the film on opening night.
In fact, the folks over at Screen Crush have been doing some digging and seem to have discovered that ticket pre-sales for the December blockbuster will open on Monday, October 19 – with a surprise.
[zerg]While it remains unconfirmed at the time of writing, Disney and LucasFilm will commemorate the event by releasing an all-new trailer for The Force Awakens on October 19. Wishful thinking though that may seem, Screen Crush points to a now-pulled advertisement listed by the Cinemark theater chain, after the company advertised that “next Monday begins the pre-sale of Star Wars: The Force Awakens at #Cinemark! Run before the Stormtroopers end up with all the tickets.”
According to sources close with the outlet, the next slice of footage will also be the final trailer released prior to the film’s launch in December, with Disney likely to switch to focused TV spots and featurettes to ensure that buzz for the sci-fi sequel continues right up until the moment when the theater lights go down. Not that that will be particularly difficult, mind you.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in theaters on December 18. Be sure to check back on Monday, October 19 when we hope to have the brand new trailer for your viewing pleasure.
