ORIGINAL STORY: The amount of speculation and chatter about the Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser trailer has finally culminated in an early Christmas treat for fans. Which is absolutely deserved after we’ve waded through a host of various reports hinting at the contents of the trailer, when we’ll see it and which movie it will appear before in cinemas. Now, after weeks of anticipation, director J.J. Abrams has officially dished the date: Friday, November 28th.
Abrams took to Twitter to reveal the news, via one of his legendary scrawled notes:

The 88-second preview will land this Friday, as selected cinemas across the U.S. are participating in a never-before-attempted event. For those cinema chains taking part, the trailer will play before every single showing of every single movie Friday through Sunday. Abrams and Bad Robot’s decision to officially announce it came after one theatre, Regal, accidentally revealed which specific theatres in their chain would be playing the trailer. They’ve since taken down the list, but not before it was noted by fansites and blogs the world over. Shortly afterwards, AMC Theatres confirmed their involvement via Twitter:
We can confirm that a teaser for @StarWars: The Force Awakens will play at select AMCs this Friday! Locations soon! pic.twitter.com/nPpaQONHQQ — AMC Theatres (@AMCTheatres) November 24, 2014
As it stands, we know confidently that Regal and AMC are prepping the preview in time for Friday. But they won’t be the only cinemas involved, as there are 100 theatres nationwide expected to participate. Additional rumours have suggested that the trailer will then land online at some point next week – a fact which is as-yet unconfirmed. But really, we all know that within moments of the first movie opening on Friday morning (heck, which cinemas are gonna be having midnight screenings just to capitalise on it?), blurry, smartphone footage will no doubt hit the web. Whatever the case, we’ll keep you posted with any news on the trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens as soon as it lands.
