It’s been slightly over a week now since the first trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker dropped the bombshell that Emperor Palpatine is returning to the fray. But according to a new report from Making Star Wars, J.J. Abrams’ upcoming trilogy-closer will see one more classic character make a comeback.
Be warned that while these claims are still to be confirmed, MSW certainly has a better track record than most for Star Wars intel, meaning that some pretty big spoilers may well lie ahead.
With that said, the outlet claims to have seen evidence that Harrison Ford has filmed scenes opposite Adam Driver for the new movie. Piecing together disparate facts from various sources, it’s thought that Kylo Ren will ask Darth Vader’s helmet to show him the darkness again, perhaps having doubts about going fully evil. Instead, it’s said that the late Luke Skywalker will intervene, and reunite Ben Solo with his father Han in a vision. One source also apparently mentioned that Han tells his son that it isn’t too late, and forgives Kylo for killing him.
While MSW seems uncertain if all of these details are correct, having heard them from separate sources, the outlet does sound quite confident that Ford will indeed be making a comeback. What’s interesting about this potential development is that the actor has seemed pretty unsentimental lately about his involvement in the Sequel Trilogy, and has even claimed that he wanted to be killed off.
Was the star ultimately convinced to come back for the grand finale of the Skywalker Saga? It certainly sounds that way, but we’ll know for sure when Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20th, 2019.
