Who better to take horror movie suggestions from than the virtuoso of the genre himself, Stephen King?
The literary icon had a busy week on Twitter, sharing his thoughts on pressing matters affecting the nation, including gun reform as well as a slew of scary films he felt fans might enjoy, including the highly anticipated upcoming supernatural film Evil Dead Rise.
The film, written and directed by The Hole in the Ground‘s Lee Corbin, takes place in the city of Los Angeles, CA, and follows a family who stumbles upon a new Book of Dead. After single mother Ellie, portrayed by actress Alyssa Sutherland, becomes possessed by the Kandarian Demon, it’s up to her estranged sister Beth, played by actress Lily Sullivan, to save her children from their terrifying Deadite.
King warned viewers that the film is “gruesome” and “bloody,” while noting that “it’s even got an elevator vomiting blood.” However, if there was anything worth looking for in “chainsaw-fu.”
Evil Dead Rise will premiere exclusively in theaters on Friday, April 21, 2023, marking over four decades since the original Evil Dead film, from acclaimed filmmaker Sam Raimi and action-horror legend Bruce Campbell, was released on April 15, 1981. The duo will also be returning for the franchise’s fifth installment as executive producers.
The movie will run for 97 minutes and also stars Morgan Davies and Nell Fisher.
