That being said, Kevin Feige’s mythology has been slipping downwards in terms of quality while increasing its levels of quantity, leading many longtime fans to grow genuinely concerned about the MCU’s long-term future for the first time. If you thought a Sony-backed superhero blockbuster gaining more buzz than the entirety of Phase Five was bad, then imagine what it means when folks are now suggesting that the industry-leading IP take a page directly out of its rival’s playbook.

As put forth on Reddit, it’s been noted that perhaps Marvel Studios should create a feature that revolves entirely around a villain. While that’s technically something that hasn’t been done before given that Loki confirmed Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief was officially embracing antihero status, the sentiment either conveniently forgets or completely ignores that Sony’s Spider-Man Universe is largely predicated on exactly the same thing.

You’d have thought the overriding opinion was that Sony was the one trying and failing to copy the MCU’s homework, but as the Phase Five backlash and Multiverse Saga maladies continue to arise on a near-daily basis, we live in a world where the lesser of the two costumed colossi is being deemed as a prospective blueprint for to right a ship that’s sailing towards choppier waters than ever before.
