Wonder Woman 2 isn’t the only comic book sequel bound for the United Kingdom.
According to the folks over at Omega Underground, Suicide Squad 2 has been earmarked for a production start in October, when Gavin O’Connor plans to ship Task Force X off to the Leavesden film studio in England – otherwise known as Warner’s home base on the British Isles.
This is a sequel that is supposedly a “big priority” for WB, so we wouldn’t be all that surprised if Suicide Squad 2 was fast-tracked for a release in early 2020 (February 14th, perhaps?) to arrive alongside the Green Lantern Corps movie. One glance at the Warner Bros. schedule will tell you that the film giant currently has two dates reserved for 2020: that aforementioned February slot, and June 5th.
Because if Aquaman is due to drop in 2018, and Shazam! and Wonder Woman 2 are locked in for next year, then 2020 is a total mystery – for now, at least. And the current confusion surrounding Matt Reeves and his gestating Batman spinoff has only made the situation all the more puzzling.
The Gotham-centric projects (read: Batgirl and Nightwing) are said to be in a holding pattern until The Batman begins to progress, so that clears a path for the likes of Suicide Squad 2 and Green Lantern Corps to take a huge leap forward.
And after losing David Ayer to Gotham City Sirens, Gavin O’Connor has been placed in control of Suicide Squad 2. Filming will reportedly get underway in October, and we’ll be bringing you all the latest developments as the villainous sequel begins to fall into place.
