Curious to know which suit of armor Tony Stark will be rocking in Spider-Man: Homecoming? Wonder no more, for Hot Toys (via CBM) has officially lifted the lid on its Power Pose Series 1/6th scale collectible figure, unveiling what is perhaps our best look at the Mark XLVII yet.
Indeed, if previous models of Stark’s expertly crafted body armor favored hot rod red above every other color on the spectrum, this suit mixes in a splash of silver for a design that evidently takes cues from The Ultimates. Previous reports have revealed that Robert Downey Jr.’s genius, billionaire, playboy and philanthropist will crop up in five or six scenes come July, adopting a mentor or father-like figure to Tom Holland’s sprightly wall-crawler. It’s an apt role for Tony Stark to assume, given he was the one to draft Spidey into the midst of Marvel’s Civil War – “underoos!” – to duke it out with Team Cap, just don’t hold your breath for any romantic subplot to bloom between Downey Jr.’s sarcastic supporting player and Aunt May, who will be played once more by Marisa Tomei.
With Iron Man in his corner, Spider-Man: Homecoming is set to pit Tom Holland’s title lead against Adrian Toomes, the former engineer who, after utilizing leftover tech from the Battle of NYC, constructs a cutting-edge wingsuit to become the Vulture, one of the more iconic villains from the Spidey archives. Oscar-winner Michael Keaton has been brought on board to portray Peter Parker’s new nemesis, and has since been busy drawing attention to the reasons why his villain stands apart from other MCU fodder.
Spider-Man: Homecoming makes a beeline for theaters on July 7th and over the weekend, two new images for Jon Watts’ reboot surfaced that placed Spidey well out of his comfort zone.
