Variety is reporting that singer Taylor Swift is attached to play the iconic Joni Mitchell in the upcoming film Girls Like Us. For those not familiar with the project, it will be a biopic that focuses on Mitchell, Carole King, and Carly Simon, three women who helped define the music of the 1960s. Though Swift hasn’t signed on officially yet, she’s expected to do so shortly.
Swift is yet another singer who is continuing the trend of singers moving into acting. She had her big screen debut with Valentine’s Day and did some voice work in this year’s The Lorax. Girls Like Us will be Swift’s first serious dramatic role though and while I don’t quite know about her acting, she definitely has the musical talent to portray Mitchell.
As for the casting of King and Simon, no word yet on who will play them but when we hear more we’ll let you know.
