Ready to pounce Out of the Shadows and into theaters this coming Friday, June 3, Paramount’s marketing parade for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows is gradually beginning to pull into the station – but not before Stephen Amell can tease the introduction of a Casey Joins origins story.
Talking to Screen Rant ahead of the sequel’s imminent arrival, Amell covered all bases relating to his hockey-masked vigilante and TMNT 2 in general – from hairstyles to blockbuster action sequences, it’s all there – and here the Arrow stalwart offers more insight into how the follow-up will introduce his character.
I think what we got to do with this Casey Jones is we got to give him a little bit of an origin story. He’s a corrections officer. That explains a lot of why he looks different than a lot of the iterations of Casey Jones that we’ve seen before. It wasn’t just, “We want him to look this way.” It was an actual decision based on the fact that he’s a corrections officer who wants to be a detective in The New York City Police Department, and so he can’t have long, scraggly hair and cutoff sleeves…yet.
In the driving seat for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows is Dave Green (Earth to Echo), who directs the sequel in place of Jonathan Liebesman. Of course, it is Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo, and Raphael that take center stage in the movie, battling Krang and his evil henchmen on the streets of NYC, but there’s also roles for Megan Fox, Tyler Perry, Will Arnett, William Fichtner, Stephen Amell, Laura Linney.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows scurries into theaters on June 3.
