Everybody’s favorite badass film heroine this side of Ripley has been cast in the upcoming Terminator: Genesis. Yes, that’s right, Sarah Connor will be portrayed by Game of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke, who will co-star alongside Jason Clarke as John Connor. And before you ask, no, they are not related, though it is kind of neat that they both have the same last name.
Sarah Connor was originally played by Linda Hamilton in the James Cameron entries and her performance is a classic. The totally believable desperation in the first Terminator film and her snappy, endlessly quotable dialogue in Terminator 2: Judgement Day means that Emilia Clarke has certainly got some big shoes to fill. Other than her recent role on HBO’s Game of Thrones, the actress doesn’t have too much of a resume. Still, she’s proven to be one tough chick on the aforementioned hit fantasy show so let’s hope that some of that will translate over to her role here.
As for plot details, they’re thin, but considering Jason Clarke is playing her son, it appears that there will be time travel involved in the plot. In fact, Deadline mentions that there will be a “trip into the future.” Other than that though, we don’t know a whole lot about what the film will involve. When we hear more though we’ll be sure to let you know.
