Although his most recent attempts at planting the seeds for crossovers didn’t exactly go to plan when the post-credits scenes of both DC League of Super-Pets and Black Adam ended up amounting the square root of nothing, Dwayne Johnson knows an opportunity for cross-pollination when he sees one.
His return to Fast & Furious is the most notable example, with the actor and producer previously headlining spin-off Hobbs & Shaw before walking away altogether on account of his feud with Vin Diesel, only for the two chrome-domed colossi to mend fences by the time Fast X hit theaters.
That being said, if there’s one crossover that wouldn’t be anywhere near the top of anyone’s wish-list as it pertains to The Rock, then surely Elon Musk would have to be up there somewhere. And yet, all it took was single side-by-side image to capture Johnson’s attention, and he couldn’t resist throwing in the requisite shill for his own tequila brand, either.
At this rate, Elon could do with all the friends he can get, but imagining him hanging out with Johnson would be one of the most bizarre. What would they even talk about? Having run Twitter into the ground, it’s not as if he could regale the A-list entrepreneur with sound business advice, while it goes without saying that Musk most definitely wouldn’t pay heed to any gym routines handed over by the buffest man in showbusiness.
Let’s just hope it’s a one-off dalliance, then, because the ramifications don’t even bear thinking about.
