While Thor and Valkyrie come into Avengers: Endgame as a pair of single heroes, Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson have now claimed that the two of them filmed a romantic exchange for 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok that has yet to see the light of day.
Watching the God of Thunder’s third solo outing, you may not have pegged newcomer Valkyrie as a potential love interest. But during CinemaBlend’s Men in Black: International set visit, the two stars recalled a kissing scene that ultimately went unused.
Chris: Yeah, we had kisses.
Tessa: There was a whole sequence, I mean there were takes in there…yeah.
Chris: It may or may not—
Tessa: It was a like, yeah … it’s in the deep cut, the DVD extra extra extra if you know what I mean.
Chris: Didn’t make it.
Tessa: We had a kissing scene.
Chris: We had a kissing scene.
Seeing how the two of them don’t end Taika Waititi’s flick as a couple, it’s unclear how this moment might’ve fit into the film, but there’ll no doubt be plenty of fan fiction out there to fill in the blanks.
On a related note, in the wake of Captain Marvel and last month’s Endgame trailer, parts of the fandom have started pushing for Carol Danvers to start a relationship with either Valkyrie or Thor. Even Thompson has given her personal seal of approval to the Valkyrie/Captain Marvel ship, but in a recent interview with Variety, the actress offered the alternative suggestion of a “thruple,” arguing that a “communal spoon” between the three of them “would be a nice thing.”
While the idea remains but a fantasy for the time being, it’s looking very likely that Valkyrie is a character with a future ahead of her. Granted, Thompson still has no screen outings confirmed beyond Endgame, but the actress recently relayed word that a pitch has happened for a follow-up to Thor: Ragnarok. Similarly, Marvel is staying tight-lipped on plans for Hemsworth in Phase 4, but you can at least see the God of Thunder in action when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.
