It wasn’t too long ago that the first set photos from Deadpool 3 finally made their way online, and just like that, it was like the dam had officially burst open.
Shortly after Ryan Reynolds’ title hero was spotted decked out head-to-toe in his updated and upgraded Marvel Cinematic Universe costume, Jennifer Garner was confirmed to be returning as Elektra in a shock move nobody saw coming, if only for the fact her movie is the comic book company’s worst-reviewed solo feature ever.
Then, pictures began circulating claiming to show off the maiden look at Hugh Jackman’s comeback king Wolverine, only for them to be swiftly debunked. History is already repeating itself, though, but this time the misinformation is being cleared up by Steve Asbell, who was named as the president of 20th Century Studios in March of 2020 once Disney completed its acquisition of Fox.
While he may have a tenuous connection to the MCU’s first-ever R-rated installment by way of his stewardship of a company that used to be slapped with the 20th Century Fox branding, the only outfits involved in Deadpool 3 are Walt Disney Motion Picture Studios, Marvel Studios, and Reynolds’ own Maximum Effort.
Despite Deadpool 3 being confirmed for a bonkers multiversal angle, the fact Reynolds and Jackman have both promised to leave Logan well alone should have also set off alarm bells that the latter wearing a costume from the opening stretch of the instant classic was a touch on the suspicious side.
