The Hunter Becomes The Hunted On This Stunning New Poster For The Predator

20th Century Fox's grisly new poster for The Predator opens up a whole new can of worms, as the hunters become the hunted.

Back when 20th Century Fox released The Predator‘s official synopsis, there was one line, in particular, that placed horror fans on red alert: “…the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species.”

So the fiercest alien in the entire galaxy – you know, save for the true alien – has reached the next stage in its evolution, aided by the DNA from other species scattered across the cosmos. You could even go so far as to say that the Predators have conquered space, though it’s Jacob Tremblay’s young, autistic Rory McKenna who triggers their return to Earth, at which point alien mayhem ensues.

And it seems Shane Black and Fred Dekker have an ace in the hole: a towering mega-Predator, which was unleashed during today’s full, red-band trailer for The Predator. Whether this superior being is the result of human experimentation (check out Olivia Munn’s horrified expression) remains to be seen, but the film’s new and rather grisly poster has arrived to prove that, yes, the hunters have officially become the hunted.

The hunt, as they say, has evolved. Of course, The Predator isn’t the only summer movie to be headlined by an impossibly-sized creature – giant shark thriller The Meg is about to pit Jason Statham against a prehistoric megalodon. But with its gory action and crude one-liners (such is the Shane Black way), it almost goes without saying that Fox’s revival is a totally different kettle of fish.

“I think you know what’s on the ship…the ultimate Predators.” Shane Black and his ragtag crew of rangers go big-game hunting when The Predator opens September 14th.
