Of all the comic characters and franchises Sony has tried to get off of the ground, only Venom has had some success so far. The Spider-Man-adjacent Eddie Brock-led series is heading into Venom 3, and now some new clues have emerged about its possible villain.
The Cosmic Circus claims the next outing for Tom Hardy’s title character has a locked script which will be moving ahead even as the current writer’s strike rages on, and is being produced under the working title of Orwell. Of course, while literary fans know the name as belonging to the author behind work like 1984 and an endless amount of claims to something being “Orwellian,” it also alludes to a character who is a product of Venom’s actions coming home to roost.
In the comics, Orwell Taylor was a United States military official who became angry after Venom – and by extension Eddie – killed one of his sons. Afterwards, he forms a group with his son’s friends and gives them armor to stand a fighting chance against the symbiote.
While they get close to their goal of bringing the antihero to some form of justice, they ultimately fail time and time again while becoming the villains they initially banded together to stop. Along the way, Spider-Man himself shows up, so, here’s hoping if something does come together, it results in a respectable reunion.
For now, though, all is uncertain. It is not even known when Venom 3 will debut, but next year is the most likely.
