Thor: Ragnarok is now so close we can almost hear the crowds whopping and hollering in the pits of Sakaar.
We are, of course, referring to the fight of the century. Friends from work though they may be, Marvel and Taika Waititi’s imminent threequel will see Thor and the Incredible Hulk lock horns in spectacular fashion, much to the delight of Jeff Goldblum’s Grandmaster. Loki? Not so much, given how we’ve seen Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief experience a mild case of PTSD upon seeing Hulk smash into the gladiatorial arena.
But when it comes to Chris Hemsworth’s Norse god, Thor: Ragnarok will test his resolve like never before. Stripped of Mjölnir and ordered to the other side of the galaxy, Hemsworth’s mighty Asgardian touches down on Sakaar as an immigrant – hence the use of Led Zeppelin’s iconic anthem in Ragnarok‘s first trailer. But it isn’t long before Thor begins to mingle with the locals, with today’s all-new clip revealing a scene in which our towering Avenger samples the local weaponry.
Unveiled via Jimmy Kimmel Live, you’ll notice that the towering Korg is actually voiced (and likely motion-captured) by Taika Waititi, writer and director of Thor: Ragnarok. Yes, Stan Lee isn’t the only one who holds a cameo role in Thor 3, and we know Waititi has a taste for surprise appearances thanks to his previous work on Hunt For the Wilderpeople and What We Do in the Shadows.
Also of note, in a separate clip from JKL, the show cuts to the green room, where Mark Ruffalo (Hulk) and Waititi are interrupted by none other than Matt Damon. Is this a sure-fire sign that the Bourne actor will feature in Thor: Ragnarok? Expect those answers to arrive on November 3rd, along with a whole load of rip-roaring action.
