During today’s colossal Marvel announcement, studio head Kevin Feige revealed that the third solo outing for the Asgardian titan will “take Thor to another level of his own franchise.” At this stage, specific details on what exactly that will encompass have yet to be unearthed. But one thing made abundantly clear is that of all the films announced today, Thor: Ragnarok possesses the most intriguing title. What the subtitle refers to will be made clear in due course, as Feige stated “what we’ll do between now and the release date is educate the rest of the world on what that word Ragnarok means.”
On the casting side of things, Feige confirmed that leading man Chris Hemsworth will be back as Thor and Tom Hiddleston will be playing his mischievous brother Loki. The story is touted to pick up directly after the events of Age Of Ultron, which will see Thor elevated to a “new level.” This insinuates that we have yet to see the best of what Thor has to offer.
Thor: Ragnarok will be released in the middle of Marvel’s phase three, on July 28th, 2017. Check out the official press release below for more info:

Chris Hemsworth will don the Mighty Avenger’s cape once more for the hero’s third solo adventure, and with a title as foreboding as “Ragnarok” you know he’ll have to rise to his toughest challenge yet this time around!
“This is a very important movie for us in Phase 3,” said Marvel’s Kevin Feige. “We plan on taking Thor to another level. It picks up where we leave Thor in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ and impacts everything that comes after.”
