Well, this will certainly have comic book fans standing up and taking notice. Providing they weren’t already, of course.
James Gunn, writer and director on Guardians of the Galaxy and its zany sequel, has posted his verdict of Thor: Ragnarok to Twitter, deeming the Marvel threequel to be a “stunningly fun and hilarious” addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
First spotted by ComicBook.com, Gunn’s Tweet falls in line with the early critical consensus, after the director likened Ragnarok to a “modern-but-maybe-even-better” Buckaroo Banzai or Flash Gordon. Talk about high praise, not that we didn’t see it coming.
From the moment Taika Waititi lifted the lid on Thor: Ragnarok‘s inaugural teaser, Marvel fans began to form a clear picture of what to expect: a zany, larger-than-life comic book blockbuster with a pinch of Planet Hulk. And it looks like that’s exactly what Waititi has rustled up, albeit with an added cameo or two along the way. For the record, Waititi plays a burly stone alien known as Korg.
Circling back to James Gunn’s glowing Tweet, though, it’s fair to say that the filmmaker is something of a bankable authority in the realm of spacefaring Marvel movies, having single-handedly transformed the Guardians of the Galaxy into household names – look for them to return in next year’s Avengers: Infinity War, along with a whole bunch of Marvel heroes.
With that in mind, this Tweet certainly has us counting down the days until November 3rd.

Thor: Ragnarok opens November 3rd, and it’ll seemingly be the first of four wildly unique and “very different” Marvel movies, with the other three being Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp, all of which will be with us in 2018.
