Thor: Ragnarok is a Marvel blockbuster teeming with A-list talent – Chris Hemsworth, Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum…Matt Damon?
Turns out the Jason Bourne actor may have a small part to play in Taika Waititi’s space opera, if the latest episode of The Weekly Planet Podcast is anything to go by. Citing one source who has allegedly seen a fair portion of Ragnarok already, the outlet claims Damon crops up during an Asgardian theater production in which he plays the part of Loki, God of Mischief.
Remember, last we checked in on the gilded city of Asgard, Tom Hiddleston’s trickster had assumed the throne while disguised as Odin, so there’s a very good chance he’ll spend the opening portion of Thor: Ragnarok behind a magical mask, ultimately leading to a fiery clash between Odin’s warring step-siblings. As for Damon’s alleged involvement, though, and even considering Waititi’s knack for cameos, we’d be best treating this tidbit with heightened caution.
Per Weekly Planet:
There’s a scene set on Asgard, in which we watch an Asgardian theater production that essentially recounts the entirety of ‘Thor 1,’ like as a play, and in this theater piece the role of Loki is played by an Asgardian actor played by Matt Damon.
Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok is all set to light up theaters on November 3rd, and though analysts have kept track of its formidable presence on social media throughout the summer, Taika Waititi’s space-faring threequel faces a tall order if it’s to top Spider-Man: Homecoming, which now officially holds the title as the highest-grossing superhero movie of the year.
Indeed, an $874 million cume places it just ahead of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, so perhaps Marvel’s third and final release of 2017 will break $750 million? Or do you expect Waititi’s threequel to scale even higher? Let us know your box office predictions via the comments section down below.
