Avengers: Endgame Deleted Scene Had Thor Try To Kiss Valkyrie

Apparently one of Avengers: Endgame's deleted scenes would've seen Thor and Valkyrie sharing a kiss. Maybe we'll get to see it on the Blu-ray?

Avengers Endgame Thor

As evidenced by all those moments from the trailers that didn’t make it into the movie, there must have been reams of footage shot for Avengers: Endgame that didn’t fit it into the already-epic 3 hour runtime – which is perfectly understandable, of course. Much of what was left on the cutting room floor hasn’t been revealed yet, but the Russo brothers have now opened up about one sweet, funny scene that fans would surely loved to have seen: a moment when Thor almost kissed Valkyrie…with comedic results.

If you’ll recall, near the end of the movie, the God of Thunder tells Valkyrie that he’s handing her the throne to New Asgard so that he can go back into space to find himself again. The scene ends with Thor being called away by Rocket, but Anthony Russo told Sirius XM that there was originally an extra beat where the Asgardian went in to give Valkyrie a kiss goodbye. It turns out, though, that he was misreading the signals.

“There’s a funny beat. If you remember at the end of the film where Thor is saying goodbye to Valkyrie, and he’s basically turning Asgard over to her. In the endings we felt like we wanted to keep it a little tight, so we were looking for some stuff to squeeze there. He had this beat with Valkryie where after he sort of turns over the kingdom to her, she puts her arm on his shoulder and he sort of starts to lean in for a kiss. And she goes, ‘What are you doing?’ And he goes, ‘Oh I thought the touch..’ She’s like, ‘Yeah, it’s a goodbye touch. A tap I’m giving you.’ It was a really funny beat but we cut it.

This sounds like it could’ve been a hilarious little moment that played with the undercurrent of romantic tension between the two characters’ interactions that’s been there since they met in Thor: Ragnarok. In fact, another kissing scene was cut from that film, too.

While we might not’ve got this extra 30 seconds or so with the pair in Avengers: Endgame, Hemsworth and Thompson will soon be seen together again in this June’s Men In Black: International. Though we’re unsure at this point if there’ll be any sort of romance between their characters in the movie.
