The Kingsman franchise started out as a Mark Millar comic book before becoming a surprise smash hit spy movie in 2014. Due to the commercial and critical success of The Secret Service, a sequel titled The Golden Circle arrived in 2017, which opened up the Kingsman universe in some major ways, introducing their American cousins the Statesman and resurrecting Colin Firth’s Harry Hart. Unsurprisingly, then, a Kingsman 3 is now in the works.
However, it turns out that this closer to the trilogy is just the tip of the iceberg. Director Matthew Vaughn, who also writes the films alongside frequent collaborator Jane Goldman, revealed to Empire that, though Kingsman 3 will serve as “the conclusion of the Harry Hart-Eggsy relationship,” fans shouldn’t fear that the franchise is coming to an end any time soon, as there are three other projects in development. These will take the form of two movies and a spinoff TV series.
First off, Kingsman: The Great Game is a prequel that’ll explore the spy organization’s adventures in the 1990s. This period was touched on in The Secret Service, which revealed that Eggsy’s dad was an applicant to Kingsman alongside a young Harry Hart. So, we’d imagine we’ll see a new actor take over as Galahad from Firth.
Next, another movie will focus on the Statesman, the US equivalent to the Kingsman known for using their thriving whiskey business as a front for their spy activities. Empire doesn’t specify whether the cast of The Golden Circle will return for their own film, but you’d think that the studio will try and get Channing Tatum (Agent Tequila), Halle Berry (the new Agent Whiskey, formally Ginger Ale) and Jeff Bridges (Champagne) to sign on for more.
Finally, a Kingsman TV show is also on the cards. Not much is known about it just yet, but it’ll take the form of a miniseries, consisting of only eight episodes. Seeing as these projects are casting the net as wide as can be, there are endless options for where it could go. The most obvious idea would be to do a kind of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.-esque show which follows what the rest of the agents do while Eggsy and co. are saving the world, but like we said, there are many, many possibilities.
