Tilda Swinton is always amazing, and she’s been making a lot of very interesting choices recently. After an unrecognizable turn in Judd Apatow’s Trainwreck opposite Amy Schumer earlier this year, she’ll appear in Doctor Strange next year playing The Ancient One, a character from the comic books who has classically been portrayed as an elderly Asian man.
What else is next for her, though? Well, the actress has revealed that she hopes to soon re-team with Bong Joon-Ho, the director of Snowpiercer. Promoting A Bigger Splash at the Busan Film Festival, she said:
“I’m already planning more adventures with Bong Joon-ho. He is a great master like Luca [Guadagnino]. I do know what it is, but I don’t know that I can tell you yet. I do know what it is, and I do know that we’re making it next year. It is imminent, and it is very exciting. I’m very, very thrilled about that one. Bong is something else. He really is.”
It remains to be seen what exactly the movie is then, but speculation is already running rampant that it will be Okja, the monster film that Joon-Ho has talked about wanting to make for a while now. Plot details are vague, but it has previously been revealed that it will focus on a girl who travels from Korea to the United States.
Regardless, it’ll be interesting to see whatever it is that Swinton and Joon-Ho come together for, don’t you think?
