The assassination of President John F. Kennedy is undoubtedly one of the most infamous events in American history, and the upcoming drama Parkland will try to capture the experiences of a wide spectrum of people in both the time leading up to the assassination and in the aftermath of it.
Variety reports that Tom Hanks‘ production company, Playtone, is developing the project, which will be written and directed by Peter Landesman.
The film will focus on a large group of people, with the primary players being an FBI agent, a young doctor, a reporter, several Secret Service agents, Kennedy’s staff, Oswald‘s older brother, Jackie Kennedy and Abraham Zapruder (the man who shot the iconic home footage of the shooting).
For those who don’t know, the title comes from the name of the hospital where Kennedy, Lee Harvey Oswald, and Jack Ruby all died.
Parkland definitely has my attention. The JFK assassination is such a huge event in American history, and is so shrouded in mystery and conspiracy rumors, that any film about it has potential to be very interesting.
With the wide variety of characters that will be highlighted, Parkland likely feature an outstanding ensemble cast too. Hopefully Hanks can bring in some A-list talent to fill those important roles.
What do you think? Does Parkland have your attention?
