While other Marvel Cinematic Universe films are certainly more important to the arc of the franchise overall, Spider-Man: Far From Home is shaping up to be one of the MCU’s most intriguing movies. Taking place after Avengers: Endgame, the next MCU effort will directly address the fallout of Thanos’ snap. For instance, despite his death, Iron Man has a strong presence in Spidey’s next adventure, which will explore how the world is adjusting to the undoing of Thanos’ destructive actions.
Speaking of which, there’s been one question on a lot of people’s minds. Now that Tony Stark is no longer with us, who exactly will Spider-Man turn to when he’s in need of a mentor or father figure? It hasn’t been said outright in the movies, but it’s quite obvious Iron Man served as a stand-in for Uncle Ben. While Peter will team up with plenty of other key MCU characters in Far From Home – Nick Fury, Maria Hill, and Mysterio, for starters – there’s no denying that Tony Stark’s absence won’t go unnoticed.
Interestingly, it looks like the man behind the Spidey suit has a few ideas in mind. Speaking to Fandom (via ComicBook.com), Tom Holland divulged that he’d like to see his character take a more active role in leading the rest of Earth’s superheroes, and he had a few ideas of who he would partner up with. For starters, Holland said he thinks the Hulk is a good choice.
“[The Hulk] is so funny and they’re both science geeks,” Tom explained, revealing that he’d like to see the two team on screen.
The young actor also detailed how he thought Spider-Man and Doctor Strange would make for an interesting duo.
“I’m really wanting to do a team-up with Doctor Strange, because we’re both New Yorkers and I just really like the idea of a science guy being teamed up with a guy who does magic, because it totally contradicts everything he knows,” Holland explained to Cinema Blend. “And I like the idea that there is real science that Peter Parker talks about, and then there’s Doctor Strange gibberish, where he’s like ‘The time rift and the thing and the thing.’ So it’s kind of fun.”
Regardless of who he ends up working alongside, Spider-Man has a bright future within the MCU, and we can’t wait to see him on the big screen again. Thankfully, with Far From Home releasing next week, it looks like we won’t have to be all that patient. Our review of Marvel’s latest film should be up soon as well, so keep your eyes on this space for more!
