There was so much awesomeness in Black Panther that it’s difficult to keep track. But one element that stood out as particularly excellent was T’Challa’s sister, Wakanda’s Princess and genius level scientist Shuri, as played by Letitia Wright.
She was funny, she was smart, she was cool and she kicked ass with her strike gauntlets in the final battle. And with Marvel Studios reportedly set to make big changes following Avengers: Infinity War and its sequel, it seems like a no-brainer to increase her presence across the MCU.
How exactly she’ll factor into Joe and Anthony Russo’s event movie currently remains a mystery, but we already know that she’ll be meeting up with many of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, and we can’t wait to see her interacting with them. But one character that she seemingly won’t cross paths with is Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.
Speaking to EW recently, the actor was asked what Peter Parker would think of Wakanda – implying that he doesn’t make it there in the film. In response, he said the young hero would love it, while also mentioning that he’d like to see Spidey and Shuri meet up.
I think Peter would love it. There’s some great moments in the comics where Peter ends up there. And Letitia [who plays Shuri] and I have become really good friends over the last year and a bit. It would be brilliant to have our characters meet up, it would be so funny. She’s brilliant in the movie, she’s actually my favorite part of Black
It probably goes without saying, but this particular duo would be a ton of fun to watch, as the two teenage geniuses comparing notes is something any fan would love to see. As for whether they’ll eventually meet up, that we don’t know, but we imagine Marvel knows how natural this pairing would be and is already planning a way to get them in the same room at some point.
Either way, we’ll soon get the chance to spend more time with Letita Wright’s breakout character in Avengers: Infinity War. The recently released stills show her meeting Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner – presumably prior to the big Wakandan showdown we’ve seen in the trailers – and we’re hopeful that the already superhero-stuffed film has enough room to give her the screentime she deserves.
