After all the drama surrounding Disney‘s Lone Ranger, the production has received another boost with Tom Wilkinson signing on to play the film’s antagonist, Latham Cole, a villainous railroad tycoon. Wilkinson’s name was thrown around before production was halted, but now it seems that he was able to renegotiate his deal.
Also in the process of making deals, are several other actors that were in negotiations before the production was postponed. Helena Bonham Carter, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale and Dwight Yoakam are now all working out their deals to appear in the film.
If the deals all go through:
Carter will play, “A ‘colorful’ madam who runs a brothel”
Pepper will play Captain J. Fuller, leader of the seventh cavalry
Dale will sign on to play Dale Dan Reid – The Lone Ranger’s older brother and head of the Texas Rangers
Yoakam is set to play Buch Cavendish, the outlaw whose gang leaves John Reid, The Lone Ranger, for dead.
Also, now confirmed for the female lead, is Ruth Wilson who has signed on to play Rebecca Reid. She happens to be the Ranger’s sister-in-law and possible love interest. She will of course be playing opposite Armie Hammer as The Lone Ranger, and Johnny Depp as Tonto. Principle photography for Lone Ranger is beginning in early Febuary, so casting is expected to wrap-up soon.
Lone Ranger is being directed by Gore Verbinski. It’s expected to be in cinemas on May 31st, 2013.
