Today at Comic-Con a brand new trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was released. Showing off a TON of new footage, the trailer gives us a great look at the upcoming sequel and provides fans with a pretty good idea of what to expect come this November.
As meaty as the trailer is, we still don’t really see much from the Games themselves, more just the stuff leading up to them. The trailer focuses a lot on Katniss dealing with the consequences of her actions from the first games as well as the revolution that is starting to brew.
While it’s certainly unfortunate that we couldn’t see more of the fighting in the arena (we only get one brief scene right near the end), we do get a few neat effects shots, a look at several of the new cast members, a good overview of the story and the struggle that will be present, and much more.
Personally, I think the film looks a lot better than the original, which I wasn’t too impressed with. Director Francis Lawrence seems to be a suitable replacement for Gary Ross and considering that Catching Fire was my favorite of the three novels, I have high hopes that it will translate into an excellent film.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens on November 22nd and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Donald Sutherland and Philip Seymour Hoffman, among others. Check out the new trailer below and let us know what you think.
