George Lucas is attaching his name to something that isn’t Star Wars or Indiana Jones related for the first time in over 20 years. It’s also the first feature length film he has produced since Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Star Wars: The Clone Wars in 2008. This one still contains explosions and action, but it also has a true story twist to it.
Red Tails is inspired by the true story of the Tuskegee Airmen, the first African-American pilot squadron to fly and fight in World War II. The cast includes Terrence Howard, Cuba Gooding Jr., Ne-Yo, Nate Parker and Bryan Cranston.
Even though I’m a huge history buff, and I usually do like seeing war films, this just looks like another cheesy, B-movie war saga. The cast is just OK, and the action looks sub-par. Truthfully, I’m hoping the finished product is better than the trailer we’ve been given because as of now, I can’t say I’m too excited for this one.
Red Tails opens January 20th. Check out the poster and trailer below.
