Thanks to A Quiet Place, we’ve been given some assurance that it’s not just Blumhouse Productions who’ll have the horror market cornered in 2018. Having already created substantial buzz with its recent TV spot that aired during the Super Bowl, this supernatural thriller looks like it may prove to be a sleeper hit when it graces cinemas this spring.
And thanks to a full trailer that John Krasinski (who wrote, directed and starred in the picture) introduced during his recent visit to The Ellen Show, we’ve been given ample reason to check out the film once it sees wide release. Really, the level of mystery surrounding the footage is bound to raise at least a few eyebrows.
In short, Krasinski and his real life wife, Emily Blunt, play characters who live on a remote farm with their children – and there’s the matter that they can’t make a sound as not to attract the attention of a supernatural entity. Communicating through hand gestures and the like, it should be most intriguing to see what the threat actually is and how these people got here.
Still, I can’t help but wonder how they can make absolutely no sound, as you’re bound to drop some pots and pans at some point when going about your business in the kitchen. Also, does that mean so much as farting means certain death? Seriously, I’d really like to know.
Perhaps Krasinski did meticulously plot all this out by making sure his onscreen family ingests the smallest amount of fiber possible, and by assuring that the bathtub Emily’s character hides in is for decorative purposes only. Either way, all will be revealed when A Quiet Place opens in theaters on April 6.
